Section 3: Flirting Etiquette and Tips
The next step in flirting is the flirting, but beware the guide lines
1. Do not go overboard, such as devoting so much of your life to this guy as to seemingly ditch your real friends, or flirt so hard that it is really obvious and becomes repulsive.
2. The best way to get a guys attention is to give him your best carefree smile across the room. ( It is totally acceptable to spend copious amounts of time practicing said smile). Don't overdo it though, you don't want to be the creepy smiling clown who's ALWAYS staring at him.
3. Your friends don't have to like the guy you are flirting with, and you don't have to drop him if they tell you to, but you do have to listen to why they want you to drop him, they could be right.
4. As the girl here you have the right to quit flirting with a guy at the drop of a hat. DO NOT feel obligated to continue buttering him up, if you stop liking him suddenly. He will actually be confused by your sudden change of behavior and will probably be more intrigued.
Exception: Do not do this to play "hard to get" it rarely works and makes you look fickle
5. If you and a friend like the same guy, don't let it come between you. The "liked him first" rule applies here. Who ever liked him first gets credit for liking him, among your group of friends, however, if you are the on who did not like him first, you can still flirt, but be careful not to upstage she who liked him first
Exception: If you announced to any one that you no longer liked a guy, and then went back to liking him a couple months later, you no longer get credit for liking him first. You start over again at the bottom of the waiting list for first dibs. This rule applies only when the two girls are friends, and agree to follow it.
Note: this rule is the most subject to change, if you and your friend talk it out first.
6. If you are rejected by a guy, you automatically move back and let the person with "second dibs" give it a go. Do not hog a guy who obviously doesn't like you.
7. Don't try again to get the same guy to like you after being rejected for a suitable amount of time. It is best to restart flirting after a noticeable chunk of time has been declared over, like a semester, or after summer break.
8. DO NOT OVER PLAN. If it is meant to be it will happen, but do not force it. It probably won't go exactly like you planned.
9. It's easier than you think. When two people start to like each other, it's no longer forced. Just be calm, and be yourself. Flash that smile and be brave.
